Get ready, Elgin—Squatchy is on the loose! To celebrate Hey Elgin’s official 501(c)(3) non-profit status, Operation Sasquatch is launching our wildest community scavenger hunt yet. We have hidden 20 custom-engraved wooden "Squatchy" figures inside some of your favorite local businesses all over town. Your mission? Follow our daily social media clues, hit the streets to track them down, and scan the secret QR codes to log your finds in our custom app. This is your chance to explore our amazing local shops, support a great charitable cause, and join in on the fun. If you have what it takes to track down all 20 Squatchys, you will be automatically entered into our drawing to win the $500 Grand Prize! The Official Rules (For Participants)
How to Play & Win:
Follow the Clues: Tune in to the Hey Elgin!! podcast and follow our social media pages. We will release daily clues hinting at which local businesses are hiding a Squatchy.
Hunt Locally: Visit the suspected businesses during their normal operating hours. (While you are there, grab a coffee, buy a shirt, or have a drink to support local!)
Scan to Score: When you spot a Squatchy, DO NOT take him home! Simply open your phone's camera, scan the engraved QR code on his chest, register/sign-in to our Custom “The Hunt” Webapp, and log your sighting.
Log the Details: Click “Log a Find” from the menu, enter the code engraved on Squatchy, snap a pic for proof and submit your find. Finds are verified within 24hrs and added to your account.
Catch 'Em All: You must find, scan all 20 Sequatchie’s, and Log the Find in the app by the end of the event to qualify for the Grand Prize.
The Grand Prize: All participants who successfully log all 20 unique Squatchys will be entered into a randomized drawing to win $500 cash!
Note: Please respect the businesses. Do not move, hide, or alter the Squatchy figures. Anyone caught taking a Squatchy will be disqualified from the prize drawing (and publicly shamed by Boston Nick).
