Ben Harris
Born in Maryland in '78, Ben's journey to Elgin took a unique turn through military service. Uncle Sam sent him to Fort Hood in '99, and after hanging up his Army boots in '04, he rolled into Elgin in 2007. Since then, he's never found a reason to leave—whether it's the legendary barbecue or the welcoming people, Elgin has become his permanent home. A dedicated dad of five, four of his children still roam the halls of Elgin ISD, while one has already graduated. When he's not busy with family, Ben is a big fan of fast cars going in circles (NASCAR), football Saturdays and Sundays, and the occasional video game marathon.

For the Hey Elgin! podcast, Ben is the heart and soul, providing an invaluable perspective as a long-time local. While Boston Nick brings the viewpoint of a transplant and Tony offers the business-savvy mindset, Ben is the one who truly knows the town's history, its hidden gems, and the rhythms of life in Elgin. His personal experiences and deep-rooted connections to the community are what ground the podcast and make it feel authentic. His co-hosts, Tony and Boston Nick, rely on Ben’s insights to navigate the local scene, making him an essential voice and the true "local guru" of the show.
